Update for Scrapbook
I will be doing my project on my career choice. It will be about how I will work in hotels and resorts around the world. (hopefully) My past slide will be about the hotel I use to work at and other jobs. My present will be about my major, classes, my job now, and other things. My future will be about where I hope to be in the next 10 or so years.

Scrapbook
I am really excited about this assignment. It definitely will be one of my favorite assignments I have ever done in college. I plan on using a powerpoint presentation with mainly pictures and little text (just to describe what the pictures represent.) I will use pictures to represent what I wanted to do in high school and how my family has impacted my life in all different ways. Also, I will use them to describe my life as it is now. And pictures from the internet and other places to represent where I hope to be in the future. Hopefully my pictures and text will get my point across with where I am in my life now and where I hope to be in the future.

Oklahoma Memorial
This website was awesome to me. I had never gone to research this, it was actually the first time that I had seen the memorial. The parts that effected me the most were the gates with the times 9:01, representing before the attack, and 9:03, after the attack. To me the reflection pool represents the calm before the storm. It is shallow so there is not much movement, but once 9:02 hit the clock the storm begins. Also, the chairs that represent the people who lost their lives during this attack. It is awesome how they are in nine rows representing the nine stories of the building. I think these are the most influential part of the memorial because to me the chairs symbolize actual people sitting at work and having their worlds destroyed in a minute. I think this memorial was the most impacting memorial to me, just because it seems like the creator made sure to involve everyone that was impacted by it. I would definitely enjoy seeing this memorial.

Photography
Photography is a way to express something without using words. (For the most part) A picture can bring out happiness, anger, love, and all different emotions. Also, a picture can represent something different from one person to the next. It is like that saying goes "a picture is worth a million words." For me pictures mean everything. I always have a camera on me, just in case something comes up that I will want to remember years down the road. Some of my favorite pictures are ones taken of my great grandparents and grandparents, because it lets me see how their life was back then without them having to sit down and tell me stories about what they did in their lifetime.

Thesis for Dlist
I have changed my topic for the Essay. I chose to do Dlist, which is a online website like myspace for gay men. (My roommate gave me the idea because he is a member of this website and it is something that I have researched.)
Through online chatting, sharing pictures, and videos, dlist has developed a gay online community where gay men can have male comradery amongst other gay men.

Myspace Essay Thesis
I'm not into the technology communities very much, but I do have a Myspace, I do not use it very often anymore, and I also have Facebook.
I think that I will be writing about Myspace. I chose this because I feel like Myspace has more controversy than Facebook. You always here about Myspace causing problems, but I also believe that Myspace will be easier to write about because it involves more younger kids than Facebook or any other online community does.
I think my main argument will be about if it is a good idea for young teens to use myspace or would it be better for them to just stay off of the website in general until they realize that sexual predators are out there and they will do whatever it takes for you to let them in.

Discourse Communities I am in
I am a NMSU student. This community is very open. You are always able to make friends in class or just being in different places around campus. Also, I believe that this community needs to be very open to get more students to attend NMSU. The languages in the NMSU community are very diverse. You have people from all over the world attending school here, so it makes it very open and easier to get along.
I am an HRTM major. I never would have considered this a community before this part of the class, but now I am starting to see it. You see people over and over in classes and then you begin to develop friendships. All of the professors, secretaries, and advisors are very open to new students and wanting them to achieve as much as they can. The students are nice as well. They all understand what each person is going through, because they have all been in the same position before.
I am part of the Boys and Girls Club of America community. I have volunteered many times throughout my life time for this organization. This community is very open and willing to take anyone in. They are always looking for volunteers to help out with the kids and different projects going on such as coaching sports teams or being a Big Brother/Sister volunteer.
(I'm not real sure if this is what I was suppose to do, but I hope it is.)
